In January 1943, researchers conducting experimental investigations into long-range signal detection recorded an anomaly unlike any previously encountered.
The signal did not resemble radio transmissions, atmospheric interference or any known form of communication.
Repeated attempts to identify its source proved unsuccessful.
More unusual still, the signal appeared to contain fragments of visual information.
Operators reported brief impressions of landscapes, unfamiliar objects and recurring images of an unidentified figure.
The source of the transmissions was classified as:
