Sketchbook Entry 02

 

I encountered another creature that seemed determined to remain exactly where it was.

 

It stood alone on the plain, balanced on impossibly long legs that appeared too fragile to support its weight. Yet

 

it showed no sign of difficulty. The creature did not walk, feed, sleep, or acknowledge my presence.

It simply waited.

For what, I could not determine.

 

I remained nearby for most of the evening. The creature cast a shadow many times longer than its body. As the sun disappeared, the shadow stretched even farther across the ground, as though it was trying to reach somewhere beyond the horizon.

 

The creature itself never moved.

I wondered if perhaps the shadow was the part that travelled.
